I’m a deer hunter. We are often seen as a villain for hunting but we go out of our way to help and I commend you so so much for helping that little guy. In the moment I know you had to be dealing with shock. But you could haven fault that ticket in court for the fact that you pointed out. It is black and white and in black and white says to take a deer from the wild and the road is not the wild. You did a great thing and it’s sad to know there is so one so miserable with themselves that they would be happy seeing a innocent animals life taken just to vilify you all for what ever reason. DASHER

I was born in Texas and grew up on a dairy farm in KY. My uncle Buck had at least one "pet" deer for as long as I could remember because he was always finding abandoned deer every couple of years. I live in Ohio now and I am going to have to look into these laws up here. I have a deer bed at the back of my property just outside the tree line that the deers have used for the last 4 years. I don't think you all are overreacting at all and the legislation needs to be changed down there. Growing up with a "pet" deer on the other side of the field they are just as good of an animal as a dog, long as ya fence in the garden to keep em out of it. If you kill fawns that are not sick you are also reducing the healthy food population in the area for hunters, preditors, and carrion animals alike. All that being said, I am sorry for your loss and the taking of an animals life for no good reason that you had to experience. My fiance and I would do the same thing you all did to save the deer but I would have sent her out the back door with the deer when I had the officers at the front door and told her to go run that deer back to the deer bed and pretend you were just checking on it while momma was away. hehe. Update for Ohio and Kentucky: You can get a rehabilitation permit to be able to do what you all did and we do have some wildlife rehabilitation centers in Ohio and Kentucky.

I would say camouflage ! Also you need swivels on one end of it so that you can turn the shed !

The officer you overheard asking if there was something else they could do, ask him if he would help you get the law changed or an amendment put in. I feel u did the right thing. P.S. i enjoy your videos and have learned from a few of your mistakes, thank you for sharing your lives with us.

I don’t think y’all are overreacting at all. Often the intention of the law that is made isn’t how it how it is enforced. Government isn’t reasonable, it is force. Your heart is in the right place. Now just work to change the law that you disagree with. Good luck!

People that say's anything bad about this family you need serious help. In Ohio if dogs get caught running loose animal control will load them up and fine the owner I have heard if a dog goes after wildlife the division of wildlife has shot dogs for that if the animal has been hurt by a dog a farmer I know had ground this one house keep letting the dogs out and went in this farmers woods killing rabbits, squirrels , and even hurting a small deer division of Wildlife got called caught the dogs in the act several times the last time did not go well for the dogs the dog's owner was cited and fined and went to court the farmer pressed charges on dog's owner.

Well I see this as a double edged sword situation & I think I have a good perspective being a outsider looking in. I know you both meant well & you were punished for a good deed. The flip side of the coin is it's population control & it was even said in the video how many are seen now. I was raised in Southern Maryland & Virginia all my life & moved out west when I was 24 years old. Financially I couldn't afford to go back home & visit family for 10 years until I got my life together. I left my mother's house about midnight to avoid the heartbreak goodbye. Probably not my best decision in life but I couldn't bare to see mom cry. Anyway, I set out for a 2500 mile drive across the Country & I honestly didn't think I was going to make it out of Maryland. The deer were EVERYWHERE in the median's & shoulders. I was literally white knuckled & scared to death the car was going to get totalled. I think the law is in place for good reason because people are not hunting them like they did years ago. I honestly could not believe my own eyes & this was only a 10 year span of being away from a area I was born & raised. I will share the video to all my followers on Twitter but I have to side with the law in this screwed situation & hope you both understand more where they are coming from. My heart goes out to you both & the baby deer. ❤

In Australia all injured or babies from road kill are returned to the wild. Owls, Roo’s, Emu’s, eagles, Crocodiles ect are returned to the wild once healed .

I'm glad you didn't let this thing go. Wishing the best of success with Dasher's Law. I thought you were just going to take that box looking thing and put some wheels on it a call it a day. But in typical CCL style you transformed it it into something nice. Yea, I know the goats couldn't care less. But it does provide better eye appeal for us humans. Are you planning on giving it some paint . Maybe something to reflect the sun. A nice place for a nice looking group of goats. Wishing you the best of success with them.

If y'all have a small battery back up with a solar panel or two, could get a couple 12 volt usb powered fans for the inside of the goat house to move some air around. Would certainly paint the outside a light color. From south Louisiana myself, and even worked many years in law enforcement there. I commend the both of you for your efforts to make a change to the law. I had many situations during my law enforcement career where I had to enforce a law that just did not seem right in my heart. However, the Louisiana Revised Statue was cut and dry, in black and white, leaving me no other choice. I'm sure those 2 LDWF Officers felt the same way. One more note on the goat house, may want to figure out how to secure the structure during a tropical storm, since tis the season and there is one brewing in the Atlantic!
